I am an Associate Professor of Law at Durham University, with extensive experience teaching, supervising and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate students. I believe that effective legal education should be intellectually stimulating, supportive and tailored to each student's individual needs.
My lessons are interactive, structured and practical. We begin by identifying your learning goals, current difficulties and areas for improvement. Depending on your needs, sessions may involve explaining key legal principles, discussing important cases, analysing problem questions, developing essay arguments or preparing for examinations.
Rather than simply providing answers, I encourage students to think independently, ask questions and develop their own legal reasoning. I use practical examples, guided discussions and constructive feedback to help students understand not only what the law says, but also how to interpret, critically evaluate and apply it.
My areas of expertise include constitutional law, human rights, media law, intellectual property and comparative law. I can also provide broader guidance on legal research, academic writing, critical thinking and examination techniques.
Having taught students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, I understand that everyone learns differently. I therefore adapt the pace, content and teaching methods to suit each student, whether they need help mastering fundamental concepts or wish to achieve higher academic standards.
Where appropriate, I can also suggest targeted reading, practice questions and exercises between sessions, helping students consolidate their understanding, monitor their progress and develop effective independent study habits.
My goal is to help you become a more confident, independent and successful law student. See you!
