Heya, I’m Frieda, a fourth-year Economics student at the University of Bristol, returning after spending a year abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I offer tutoring in Economics, Maths and Spanish/English, and I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive and tailored to the individual student.

Learning becomes much easier and more enjoyable when you genuinely understand why something works and how it can be applied to the real world. Whether we are discussing inflation and government policy in Economics, working through a challenging Maths problem, or improving confidence in a foreign language, I focus on building a strong understanding before moving on to further practice.

Lessons can be adapted depending on what works best for you. We might begin by identifying areas you find difficult, then break topics down step by step, using examples and practice questions to build confidence. For students preparing for exams, I can also help with revision planning, exam technique, essay structure, data-response questions and learning how to approach unfamiliar or difficult problems independently. I want lessons to feel interactive, so I encourage students to ask questions and explain their thinking rather than simply being given the answer.

I have around a year of experience teaching A-level Economics and Maths to students in Bristol through volunteering, as well as previous experience tutoring online. I have also taught English as a Foreign Language, and hold a 40-hour ESL teaching certificate, giving me experience adapting lessons and communication for students of different ages, levels and learning backgrounds.

Academically, I achieved A*s and As in Economics, Maths and Spanish at A-level and have achieved First-Class grades throughout my Economics degree. Having recently been through A-levels and university assessments myself, I understand both the subject content and the challenges that students can face when trying to turn their understanding into strong exam performance.

Every student learns differently, so before starting, I would be happy to have an initial consultation to discuss your goals, current level and any areas you would particularly like to improve. From there, we can work out a lesson structure and learning style that suits you best.

Outside of my studies and tutoring, I enjoy learning languages, playing tennis and listening to music, and after living abroad for a year, I particularly enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures. My goal is to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and, most importantly, growing in confidence.
