My teaching approach is centred on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and identifying the areas they find most challenging. At the beginning of each session, I encourage students to tell me which topics or types of questions they are struggling with so that we can focus on their individual needs and make the most of our time together.
I believe that learning maths is most effective when students first see a clear, step-by-step example. I like to work through examples together, explaining not only how to solve the problem but also why each step is important. This helps students develop a deeper understanding rather than simply memorising methods.
Once we have covered a concept, I provide students with independent practice questions so they can apply what they have learned on their own. This allows me to assess their understanding and identify any misconceptions. After they complete the questions, I give constructive feedback, highlighting what they have done well and explaining any mistakes in a positive and encouraging way. If needed, we revisit the topic with additional examples until they feel confident.
My aim is to build both mathematical ability and confidence. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual, ensuring lessons are paced appropriately and focused on helping them achieve their academic goals while developing independent problem-solving skills.
