Frances Astill

As a fourth-year Master of Pharmacy student with a strong background in biology and biomedical sciences, I design lessons that are clear, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s goals. My sessions usually start with a quick review of previous topics to strengthen understanding, followed by step-by-step explanations of new material, using plenty of diagrams, real-life examples, and simple analogies to make complex ideas easier to grasp.

I love working with visual learners and often include sketches, flow charts, videos, and colour-coded notes to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, short quizzes, and discussion time help students apply what they’ve learned and build confidence.

I’ve supported classmates and younger students with everything from exam prep to boosting their general understanding of biology, and I’ve seen how personalised guidance can make a real difference. My goal is to create a friendly, encouraging space where you feel comfortable asking questions and leave each lesson with a clearer, deeper understanding of the subject.

Above all, I aim to inspire curiosity and confidence in every student. I believe that science isn’t just about memorising facts, but about understanding how the world works and developing problem-solving skills you can use everywhere. My lessons are relaxed yet focused, giving you space to ask questions, make connections, and enjoy the learning process while steadily working toward your goals.

I can also provide homework tasks when requested, and make sure each lesson follows a clear structure with time for questions. I am adaptable to you, and will strive to make sure you feel engaged in each lesson.
