My experience is in working both as a Maths teacher (16years) and ICT and Computer Science lecturer/teacher (22 years) both in the UK and abroad . I have also worked for the software house Computer Associates as second line IT Support Consultant.
In my current role I have a good strong presence and have formed good working relationships with everyone. I am a dedicated educator/trainer and strive to do the best I can.
I am always keen to respond to feedback and take on board strategies to improve my working and learning. Having worked in quite a number of organisations I respond well to and uphold the ethos of different organisational settings. I have enthusiastically participated in professional development, departmental meetings and INSETs and have always been willing to share good practice with peers.
Between 2007 to 2009 I worked with Luton Borough council(on behalf of Barnfield College) delivering Key Skills Numeracy Level 3 to the borough’s young Apprentices.
The knowledge and experience that I have acquired from the above mentioned, as well as through my studies and training have strengthened my professional skills. I am well-versed on how to relate literacy, numeracy, ICT to support teaching and learning.
I understand the issues of achievement and diversity, the effect of a well conducive environment to teaching and learning, health and wellbeing of children.
I am aware of the best practice to promote Equality & Diversity in teaching and learning. I understand that I have to take into account of the rights of all individuals and groups and have always considered this in my lesson planning, teaching methods and assessment procedures. I always strive to ensure that my teaching resources and materials are inclusive that I treat everyone fairly irrespective of race, gender, sexual orientation, transgender, religion, belief or age. All this has been reinforced by the courses on Equality & Diversity that I have attended in the past.
I am aware and understand fully the current issues in Education in general, such as: the national priorities (EAL, SEND, Behaviour management and Bullying), differentiation and inclusion; the new curriculum, new focus on poor pupils’ attainment, pupils’ progress, equality and assessment. I strive to implement these rules in my teaching activities and working with people in general.
In my spare time I work with “looked after” children whose special needs range from Autism, ADHD etc... This has prompted me during the recent weeks, to enrol on to e-learning courses on Safe Guarding Children, Health and Safety in the work place and Safeguarding Children from abuse by Sexual Exploitation.

Being an IT professional and trainer my IT skills particularly with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Access) are excellent. I am very well versed with web development tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, digital tools like and can program in Python. I social networking systems, e-portfolios and project development/implementation.
I have been instrumental in creating schemes of work, numerous paper-based and electronic & manual training resources as well as electronic tracking sheets on a range of courses.
I am enthusiastic and have contributed my knowledge to other departments to maximise the learning experience. At William Morris 6th form, I delivered a number of IT courses to staff in other departments.
I have managed my own professional development and have attended training courses on delivering and assessing various subjects. In the past I have registered with the then Institute for Learning(IfL). Most of my MS Office Skills are self-taught.
I have had my online course with the Microsoft Academy towards obtaining a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) qualification on hold due to other commitments.
I also have good administrative skills which are reinforced by my strong MS Office Skills. I am able to work efficiently with the team in ensuring the good maintenance of all necessary administrative documents, current and past.
I have promoted efficient record keeping of course and subject files to be maintained electronically and in paper format within our department. I have encouraged the use of electronic tracking sheets to record and update learner progress on both examined and e-portfolio based units.
To conclude, I have the knowledge and experience that will enable me to meet the requirements of the role of a Computing teacher. I have confidence in the experience and skills that I have gained throughout my teaching career and am confident that I will be able to meet most of the criteria and fulfil this role in a manner that corresponds with the ethos of your organisation.
