Fizza Khan

I am a second-year BA Journalism student at the University of the Arts London with a strong academic and professional background in English and writing. I achieved a Grade B in A-Level English Literature with a raw mark of 173/200, including 40/40 in coursework. As for GCSEs, I achieved a Grade 9 in English Literature and Grade 7 in English Language. I also achieved an A (42/50) in my Extended Project Qualification, which developed my skills in independent research, constructing arguments and producing a sustained piece of academic writing.

Beyond my academic credentials, writing is a foundational element of my professional and creative life. I am currently the Opinion Editor for my university newspaper, The Pigeon Newspaper, where I edit articles, guide writers to develop their voice and write on political and cultural issues. I have also written in other capacities, including for the media outlet Jarida Today, as well as in more creative roles. These experiences have not only strengthened my ability to develop compelling ideas but importantly to articulate them persuasively and clearly for different audiences.

Whether a student is struggling with literature analysis, academic writing or creative writing, I offer personalised lessons tailored to individual needs for students aged 10-18. I aim to identify and address the areas they find most challenging as well as refining their existing strengths. My teaching style is engaging, discussion-led and encouraging with a focus on helping students develop a genuine appreciation for the power of language. By the end of their time with me, I strive to nurture each student into a confident and independent writer.
