I plan my lessons carefully to ensure they are structured, purposeful, and tailored to each learner’s needs while remaining engaging and enjoyable. I begin by assessing a student’s current ability, strengths, and areas for improvement through discussion and informal assessment. From this, I set clear, achievable learning objectives so each child understands their focus and can see their progress.
My lessons are divided into short, focused sections to maintain concentration and support understanding. I typically start with a warm-up activity to revisit prior learning, followed by explicit teaching of key skills such as reading comprehension strategies, grammar rules, punctuation, and spelling patterns. I then guide students through practice tasks, gradually encouraging independent work to build confidence and resilience.
I bring strong skills in adapting teaching for both mainstream and SEN learners, using patience, clear communication, and differentiated approaches to meet individual needs. My experience in a primary school setting has strengthened my ability to manage varying abilities and learning styles effectively. I also use creativity to make lessons engaging, incorporating games, visual resources, storytelling, and real-life examples to bring learning to life.
I have strong literacy knowledge, particularly in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and comprehension, and I use this to design interactive and motivating activities. I also draw on my sociology background to understand behaviour and learning differences, helping me support students holistically.
Each lesson ends with reflection, feedback, and a clear next step, helping students build confidence, stay motivated, and achieve steady academic progress
