I am patient, empathetic and child-centred with a real interest in supporting and facilitating children’s development. I place the needs and wellbeing of each child at the centre of everything I do and work hard to build trusting, respectful relationships with both children and their families.
I am an early years practitioner currently studying a BA Child and Youth Studies. I have seven years direct experience in education and am keen to use this in primary tutoring. During my time in early years I have been a numeracy champion for two consecutive years, allowing me to research and prepare individual learning experiences tailored to each child’s numeracy skills. I have led and developed creative projects with children and find it very rewarding to see children develop confidence when acquiring new skills.
My first degree was in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry and led to a 16-year scientific career as a chemist in a nuclear power station during which I regularly broke down complex concepts into clear, accessible resources for colleagues and students. My analytical, structured approach to tasks enhances my approach to supporting children.
Outside of work I am kept busy by my four children, which has given me a very real understanding of supporting learning across different ages and stages at home. I also sit on the board of a local children's charity and enjoy reading and running, including taking part in local 10k events.
