Good to meet you, I am Fintan a 21 year old graduate of a top 10 uk university working in teaching who is currently doing private tutoring to help local kids increase their maths grades. when being tutored by me you will follow a basic structure. an example of what a lesson would look like given the subject is quadratics would be:
0–5 mins: Starter – quick recap quiz on expanding brackets.
5–15 mins: Introduction – explain quadratic form (ax² + bx + c = 0); demonstrate on Desmos.
15–30 mins: Tutor Modelling – show worked examples (e.g. x² + 5x + 6 = 0).
30–45 mins: Guided Practice – students solve similar problems collaboratively.
45–55 mins: Independent Practice – exam-style questions with tutor support.
55–60 mins: Review – mini quiz, recap steps, set homework.
This is the general framework but I will adjust relative to the students needs and work at their pace in order to achieve the best learning outcomes possible. I will design the homework myself and mark it if emailed to me before the next session then run through any problems before starting a new session.
I feel I am good at understanding and working with my students and should be able to help my students through any problems they face with the syllabus. I also have training and experience working with kids with behavioural issues and those with autism. I have spent my last year learning and understanding where kids go wrong so I hope you will allow me to help you or your child achieve your goals.
