Filippo Verdiani

Hi, I’m Filippo, a native Italian speaker. I offer online conversation and reading practice for adults who already know some Italian and would like to feel more comfortable using it.
We can talk about everyday life, travel, food, design or anything that interests you. We can also read a short text together and work on pronunciation, vocabulary and useful expressions. There’s no pressure to speak perfectly: we’ll take our time, and I’ll help you when you get stuck.
Each session starts with what you would like to practise. Perhaps you’re planning a holiday in Italy, want to speak with Italian friends or simply enjoy the language and don’t have many opportunities to use it. We can practise situations such as ordering food, asking for directions, shopping or introducing yourself to someone new.
If you enjoy reading, you can bring a text you’ve found interesting, or we can choose something together. We’ll read it aloud, discuss its meaning and use it as a starting point for conversation. I can point out words or expressions that sound more natural and help you practise sounds you find difficult. We can return to them whenever you need.
I speak English too, so we can use it whenever you need an explanation. I’m also learning Russian, so I understand how frustrating it can feel when you know what you want to say but can’t find the words.
My background is in the furniture industry, with over twenty years spent working with clients and architects. If you’re interested in interiors or design, we’ll certainly have plenty to talk about.
I’m not a qualified language teacher, and I don’t offer structured grammar lessons. What I offer is a friendly space to practise real Italian, at your own pace, with a native speaker.
