My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, ability and learning goals. As a qualified teacher with 10 years of experience, including working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), I understand that students learn in different ways and at different paces.
Lessons begin by identifying the student’s current level of understanding and any areas they find challenging. From there, I plan sessions that focus on strengthening key mathematical skills, addressing gaps in knowledge and developing a secure understanding of new concepts.
I use a range of teaching methods, including clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and independent questions. I encourage students to explain their thinking and ask questions so that I can identify misconceptions and adapt my teaching where needed. Lessons are structured but flexible, allowing us to spend more time on challenging topics when necessary.
I can support students with developing their general maths skills, consolidating classroom learning, preparing for assessments and working towards their academic goals. For students with SEND, I adapt the pace, resources and explanations to suit their individual learning needs.
My aim is to create a calm and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and learning from them. I focus on helping students understand the methods behind mathematical problems rather than simply memorising procedures.
Whether a student needs help catching up, consolidating their knowledge or preparing for exams, lessons are planned to provide focused support and measurable progress. I also provide regular feedback to help students recognise their progress and next steps.
