My teaching methods are broken down in 10 minutes theory, 10 minutes practical and 10 minutes learning something new or practicing an existing song. Hourly is the same with expansion and a bit more attention to detail and more in depth. I use diagrams, music notation books, plenty of varying grade exams; Rock School, Trinity, Trinity Pop & Rock, ABRSM, RGT and more. Focus on music notation is preferable but is not my main focus if the student would like to study something simpler; chords to strum along to songs etc.

I am trained in Classical, Flamenco, Pop/Rock guitar, bass guitar, and have a wealth of teaching experience, both in private tutoring and within group settings. I have studied with contemporary guitarists such as Brett Garsed, Jorge Strunz, Ted Green and Steve Cardenas. I have a degree in Music Composition from London College of Music and play guitar at a professional level. Having many years of formal training of Andre Segovia and Emilio Pujol’s technique from the late Dr. Ron Purcell (student of Andrés Segovia & Emilio Pujol and Head of the Classical Guitar Department at California State University of Northridge) this has given me a strong skill set in teaching Classical guitar. I have also studied Flamenco guitar with the late Benito Palacios student of the late Sabicas. In addition, I have been performing and recording professionally for 30 years with artists on international tours and within studio sessions. This experience has equipped me to prepare students for performance, and is one of the aspects of teaching I really enjoy.
