What are your photography lessons like?
My lessons are friendly, practical and tailored to the individual learner. I believe the best way to learn photography is by understanding the basics and then putting them into practice.
I start by finding out what the learner already knows, what they want to achieve and what type of photography interests them. From there, I build lessons around their needs and confidence level.
Lessons can include:
* ?? Understanding your camera or phone – settings, controls and getting the most from your equipment.
* ?? Exposure and lighting – understanding aperture, shutter speed and ISO in a simple, practical way.
* ??? Composition – learning how to arrange an image and make photographs more interesting.
* ??? Developing your photographic eye – learning how to see opportunities, light, colour, shape and detail.
* ?? Practical photography exercises – going out and taking photographs rather than just learning theory.
* ?? Editing and improving images – understanding basic editing and how to make your photographs stronger.
* ?? Projects and portfolios – developing ideas, selecting images and creating a body of work.
* ?? Creative photography – encouraging experimentation and helping learners develop their own style.
I also use a step-by-step approach, particularly when working with beginners or learners who may lack confidence. I don’t expect everyone to learn in the same way, so I adapt the pace and teaching method to the individual.
Most importantly, my lessons are not about simply telling you what to photograph. I want you to understand why a photograph works, develop your own ideas and become confident enough to make creative decisions for yourself.
Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time, using your phone, studying photography or looking to develop a portfolio, I aim to make every lesson practical, enjoyable and confidence-building.
