I've had three years of tutoring experience where I've really enjoyed teaching and working with students to achieve the best results they can. Within this range of experience I've had students who've been retaking Maths due to disappointing results, yet with work from the both of us have been able to push them to achieving A's in their exams.

I achieved top grades in both higher and advanced higher mathematics, as well as 6 A band 1's in my higher exams - through these results I am now going into the penultimate year of my masters in chemical engineering at Imperial College London. I put lot of this down to my ability to understand how to sit exams well, understand the content effectively and study efficiently - this I can and have passed on to my previous students.

I was head boy at Earlston High School and have played team sports like rugby and football all of my life - this has allowed me to communicate well and effectively which I now use with well with students.

When working with students I like to assess where students are having the most difficulty and work through these topics, then we will encounter questions, slowly releasing the reigns of assistance until they are confident working alone. On top of this I feel flashcards are a method which has worked very well for me and my students - especially when it comes to preparing for exams. I am happy also to set work to be done outside of our lessons together also if I feel this would be effective in aiding learning.
