For GCSE maths lessons, I tend to follow this structure:

For GCSE maths lessons, I tend to follow this structure:
I ask you about any areas that you are currently struggling with, or continue with topics that we have previously covered/discussed. I then begin by showing you some example questions, which I will work through aloud: I start off with the easiest question types, to ensure that the understanding is in place. We'll then work through the questions together. If after a few problems you're beginning to feel happier with the topic, I'll ask you to have a go at a question by yourself. If you're feeling happy after this, we'll move onto the more difficult questions and repeat the process.
I'll often return to these questions in later sessions to ensure you're still comfortable with the skills needed. Once we've covered a few different topics, I'll ask you some questions which combine the topics together. I always work from real, past exam questions, as I feel this gives the best practice possible.
If you are looking to re-sit, or it's close to mock/exam season, I run simulated exam sessions, where I can either act as an invigilator, then mark your paper with you, or we go through an exam paper together. I can run longer sessions closer to exam time, in order to maximise the benefit of completing a full paper.
My aim is to create a friendly atmosphere - my intention will never be to criticise or mock anyone for getting anything wrong, as it's always an opportunity for learning.
As I'm going to University this Autumn, I can only offer sessions up until October 2026, and then in the school holidays around Christmas, Easter and Summer.
