I structure every session around the student's actual gaps alongside the specification. Before we start, I look at recent work, mocks, or past papers to pinpoint exactly what's holding progress back, then build lessons that target it directly.
Sessions are built around exam-style questions - working through them together, spotting patterns in mistakes, and learning from mark schemes. I always leave time to unpick why an answer was right or wrong, not just mark it and move on.
Between sessions, I set targeted practice questions to consolidate what we've covered. I set clear targets early and track progress through performance on practice questions and past papers, adjusting the plan as we go. For me, learning sticks when students understand their own reasoning so I always get them talking me through their answers and reasoning.
