Erika Aitkenhead

I am a friendly and supportive Biology tutor based in Glasgow, offering online and in-person lessons for National 5, Higher, GCSE, A-Level, and introductory university-level Biology/Biomedical Science students.

I hold a Distinction MSc in Cancer Therapies alongside a Biomedical Science background, giving me strong knowledge across areas including cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, physiology, and data interpretation. My aim is to help students build confidence, strengthen exam technique, and develop a genuine understanding of biological concepts rather than simply memorising information.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual learning style and academic goals. I use a structured and engaging approach combining clear explanations, active recall techniques, exam-style questions, and past paper practice to reinforce understanding and improve performance. I also focus on helping students break down complex topics into manageable, easy-to-understand concepts.

I understand that Biology can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities. Whether students are looking to improve grades, prepare for exams, or strengthen subject understanding, I am committed to helping them make clear and measurable progress.

I also adapt lessons to the specific exam board, curriculum, and learning outcomes each student is working towards, whether that is SQA National 5/Higher, GCSE, A-Level, or university coursework. This allows lessons to remain focused, relevant, and aligned with the exact knowledge and exam skills required, helping students prepare effectively while targeting areas that need the most improvement.
