I am a qualified primary school teacher with QTS who has successfully completed my ECT, with experience teaching across KS2 and supporting a wide range of abilities. I have worked closely with pupils with SEND, as well as those working at Greater Depth, using adaptive teaching, scaffolding, and targeted challenge to ensure every child makes progress.
My teaching approach focuses on building confidence first, as this is key to long-term success. I use clear explanations, step-by-step modelling, and lots of encouragement, alongside practical resources and engaging activities to make learning enjoyable and accessible. I also prioritise strong relationships with children so they feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and develop independence in their learning.
My lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs, starting with a quick review of prior learning before introducing new skills in small, manageable steps. I use clear modelling, guided practice, and then independent work to build confidence and understanding, adapting the level of support or challenge as needed throughout the session.
Sessions are designed to be engaging and positive, often incorporating games, practical resources, or topics that interest the child to keep motivation high. I aim for children to leave each lesson feeling successful, more confident, and with a clear sense of what they have learned.
Above all, I want every child to feel capable, confident, and proud of themselves. I combine high expectations with patience and encouragement, creating a supportive environment where children are willing to take risks and make real progress. My goal isn’t just to improve attainment, but to help children develop a positive mindset towards learning that will benefit them long after tutoring ends.
