When teaching I will use multiple different strategies including exam-style questions, but only when they are ready. Beforehand easier questions which will build up the confidence and ability towards the more difficult questions so they can do the questions by themselves. Other strategies include small questions on whiteboards as well as timed exercises so that they get used to a timed environment.

I also want our sessions to be enjoyable so I find fun ways and games to look at problems so that they learn to enjoy what they are learning which makes the process of getting over a difficult problem more enjoyable. I also think it is important to get continuous feedback from the person I am tutoring so in the middle and at the end of the session, I like to check that firstly we are doing the bit of work they struggle with and they are finding what I am doing useful. - This to me is key as it allows the student and whoever I am tutoring to keep open communication throughout the session and highlights if there are still areas which they are struggling with, which we can then go into further detail about and resolve them.

I am studying Biological Science specialising in microbiology and infectious diseases at Exeter University which I am loving as I have a passion for the sciences and maths. I am currently a tutor with My Tutor as well and love the help I can give in areas which I find fun and interesting that others may not.
