I like to teach with whatever my student is interested in. I have taught using Minecraft for primary school kids, to movies and TV show lines for adults. Having taught a variety of ages, I know how diverse everyone's method of learning is, and try to tailor my style to however they are most likely to retain information and use it going forwards. I can provide flashcards, worksheets, lesson templates, and various other resources from a massive collection of textbooks (both tailored for English students and Japanese ones).
I am a great believer in overcoming nervousness associated with making mistakes in speaking with native speakers in the target language, and encourage students to make sentences regardless of their correctness so that they can begin conversing with confidence. Complete correctness can come at a much later stage!
Whatever your interests are, and whatever your reasons are for wanting to learn Japanese, I will work with you to make sure you are getting what you want out of lessons, so that you can take your Japanese wherever you wish. I, myself, worked in a sushi bar for 6 years during and after my degree as the only English-speaker. It was challenging for all sorts of reasons, but what I learned about the Japanese language and how people use it was priceless. I still study Japanese every day; with crosswords, spreadsheets of idioms, and obscure kanji that none of my Japanese friends have ever used. I would love to share my geekery of this beautiful language with you to whatever extent you wish.
