I aim to make my classes as enjoyable as possible, using techniques and materials appropriate to the learners.
If I am working with youngsters, I get to know their interests and incorporate aspects of these interests into my lessons. Word game, puzzles and quizzes can be a really useful addition to storybooks and writing exercises.
Similarly, with adults, I find out what subject matter most interests them, or is relevant to their jobs. I have worked one to one with adult language students, but have also takien part in an English language immersion programme in Poland. Here, the students were professionals who wanted to throw thenselves into an intense week of speaking English. It is definitely a case of "different strokes for different folks" and I thoroughly enjoy finding out which method is going to work best for my students.
Simply put, my sessions should be organised, pertinent - and fun!
