Lessons will vary depending on what your goal is for the lesson. There will be a mixture of tasks. For example, one lesson may include starting with a quiz to see what we already know, then a close read of a textbook/novel, or a look at some phonics, and then we will complete a task together to solidify our knowledge of the new material. I am also happy to tailor to mark schemes, for example if you are studying for the AQA exam board. On the other hand, if gaining general English skills is the focus, we can look at how different letters produce different sounds when grouped together, and look at practising spotting and using these in reading and writing.

I am happy to offer as much or as little guidance as you may need. Sometimes to improve in English you may just need some prompting to give you the confidence to apply skills you already know, or you may want to fine tune sure specific skills or knowledge to score a higher mark. Either way, we can work on it together.

I have experience working as an English tutor in a secondary school, tutoring English to students with a range of abilities. I also have worked for an international summer school and have experience teaching English to students who are only just beginning to learn the language. I also have experience tailoring lessons to students with extra needs, such as ensuring my lessons are accessible to students who are neurodiverse.
