My online science lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level, helping students build confidence, deepen their understanding and develop the knowledge and exam skills needed to achieve their best.
Lessons are delivered online in a clear, structured and engaging format. At the beginning, I will identify the student’s strengths, areas for development and personal goals. This means that every lesson is carefully planned to focus on what will make the greatest difference to their progress. Whether a student needs support to catch up with classwork, prepare for an upcoming assessment, revise for GCSE exams or stretch themselves towards the highest grades, lessons will be adapted accordingly.
Sessions may include clear explanations of challenging scientific ideas, visual models and diagrams, worked examples, retrieval practice, targeted exam questions and detailed feedback. I break complex topics into manageable steps and check understanding throughout, so students feel comfortable asking questions and can build their confidence gradually. I also place a strong emphasis on using correct scientific vocabulary, applying knowledge to unfamiliar situations and understanding how to gain marks in exam questions.
Exam preparation is an important part of my teaching. I can help students become familiar with the style of GCSE questions, including required practicals, calculations, extended-response questions and command words such as describe, explain, compare, and evaluate. We will practise how to structure answers effectively and learn from mistakes in a positive, constructive way.
I have over 16 years of science teaching experience and have previously been a Head of Department. I am currently a Lead Practitioner within a trust academy, where I work to improve teaching and learning across science departments. This role has given me extensive experience of effective teaching strategies, curriculum planning and supporting students of different abilities to make excellent progress.
My aim is to make science feel less overwhelming and more enjoyable. I create a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel supported, challenged and proud of their progress. Parents and students will receive clear feedback on learning, progress and suggested next steps, helping everyone to feel informed and confident throughout the tutoring journey.
