I am an all-round experienced tutor, having spent a year teaching English as a foreign language to French children, as well as doing French tutoring both online and in a UK secondary school.
My experience in France has not only allowed me to perfect my French to C1/C2 level, but has also allowed me to understand ways to how non-native speakers approach English. It has also allowed me to understand how differently every person approaches languages, and how to encourage those with less interest.
I am a native English speaker, currently in my 4th year at Lancaster University, studying French and Linguistics. My university-level understanding of linguistics allows me to approach languages from a different and more nuanced perspective than just simple vocabulary and phrases.
I like to make lessons fun, memorable, and engaging, yet easy to follow. I also make sure that each lesson is suited to each individual, as, from experience, everyone learns differently. This means for some people, lessons will be more conversational, whereas for others, they may be more visual. For everyone, though, I like to ensure a one-step-at-a-time method, and make sure everything covered has been fully understood.
I am an outgoing and friendly individual, and am very easy to get along with, which is often a huge reason for students’ success. I am incredibly patient and optimistic, and see the potential in every student, regardless of age, behaviour or attitude.
From basic vocabulary to niche grammar, I cover all bases in both English and French!
