Ellen Laker

Hello! My name is Ellen and I have 7 years of tutoring experience of 11+, secondary and GCSE Maths/Sciences, as well as A-Level Biology. I like to tailor lessons to the needs and learning style of each individual student. Typically, lessons will involve interactive learning of content, followed by exam questions. I find it works best when we build up to tackling trickier, problem-solving exam questions, so often I'll begin with worked examples/model answers, then work through some questions together, before allowing the student to work independently. This gives students a mix of guidance and independence so they build confidence in themselves and their exam technique, while ensuring the learning is consolidated. I mainly teach online, with lots of experience of Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Classroom. Having recently graduated with a First Class in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Oxford , I am also well equipped to support with university applications and admissions tests, including the BMAT admissions test.
