What My Lessons Are Like:
My lessons are clear, structured, and fully tailored to each student's goals—whether you're building confidence in maths, preparing for physics exams, or tackling complex engineering topics.
Lesson Format:
Each session typically follows a 3-part format:
- Review & Recap – We quickly review past material to reinforce knowledge and identify any gaps.
- Focused Learning – We dive into the topic of the day using step-by-step explanations, examples, and real-world applications.
- Practice & Feedback – You’ll apply what you've learned through guided practice, and I’ll give immediate feedback to build understanding and confidence
- I use a mix of whiteboarding, screen sharing (for software or diagrams), worked examples, problem-solving sessions, and sometimes simulation walkthroughs (like CAD or fluid flow software) depending on your level and goals.
Content Covered:
I cover a wide range of subjects including:
- Maths & Physics (KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, GCSE, A-Level, and University levels)
- Mechanical Engineering (design, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics)
- Software Skills – CAD, STAR-CCM+, FEA, MATLAB, and database tools
- Technical Writing & Dissertation Guidance
- Career Support – from university applications to early-career mentorship for STEM roles
My Experience
I have over 10 years of experience in STEM, including:
- A First-Class MEng in Mechanical Design Engineering from the University of Glasgow
- Current work as a Structural Engineer at VWS Westgarth, where I apply CAD, simulation, and design methods daily
- Former roles in infrastructure engineering and support at Content Guru, where I also trained staff and led teams
- Past tutoring experience with Explore Learning, teaching Maths and English to children aged 5–14
- I've also mentored university students, run engineering workshops, and presented to schools and museums through nonprofit outreach.
What Makes My Lessons Different:
- I relate technical topics to real-world applications, making them easier to grasp
- I’m highly organised and patient, adapting my teaching style to suit each learner
- I support students not just academically, but also with study techniques, confidence-building, and long-term goals
