If my potential student is a GCSE Spanish student, I have a a GCSE book that I may use to structure my lessons.
Each lesson would essentially begin with an active recall of the previous lesson so that the student actively learns, and I can set certain homework, such as reading shorter books in Spanish and watching films in Spanish, if that is what the student would prefer.
I would then identify the skill that my potential student is struggling the most in and, using this knowledge, assign work and guide them through mistakes made, also teaching them unknown and uncertain material.
