My method is to make sure that the rules and the grammar of languages are learned by practical examples, rather than floating knowledge created by notions.
Our classes will always start with simple explanations of the theory behind the topic, and we will then move to build practical examples to utilise the freshly learned subject.
For example: if one day we will talk about past tenses in English, the first part of the lesson will be the rules and the grammar behind the usage of past tenses. Once that step is completed, we will explore a vocabulary that works well with past tenses like places you have visited. A brain-storming session where the student can write down all words they can think of related to travel will be completed.
At the end, the students will be asked to write down sentences using the grammar learnt and the vocabulary explored and those sentences will be corrected in real time.
The end of the lesson will always be speaking exercises so that the student can improve all fields of language learning: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
This method works amazingly with every subject: professional or academic, as well with every level of difficulty: beginners and advanced alike.
