I believe that the first part of success with tutoring is having a very comfortable and approachable rapport with the student. I am very approachable and easy going, providing an atmosphere where no question is 'silly'. Any question or concern, big or small will be answered and explained in a way that makes the student feel comfortable.
In terms of exam success, I believe that school-level exams come down to two things. Firstly, understanding what you are learning is key. You cannot learn things off by heart and do well. You must understand the content first. Secondly, exam questions. Practising and becoming familiar with exam phrasing and questions is key. If you practice these questions and learn from your mistakes, you will walk into the exam confident that you know you can answer anything they throw at you.
