My lessons are designed to be clear, engaging and tailored to the individual needs of each student. Before beginning tuition, I will take the time to understand the student’s current ability, areas of difficulty and personal goals. This lets me structure lessons around the topics that will be most beneficial, whether the aim is to improve confidence or to prepare for an upcoming exam.

During lessons, I focus on explaining mathematical concepts clearly and logically, breaking more difficult topics down into manageable steps. Rather than simply demonstrating a method and asking the student to repeat it, I encourage them to understand why each step works. This helps students develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently, which is particularly important at GCSE and A Level.

Lessons can involve a combination of teaching new content, working through examples together and completing carefully selected practice questions. I will adapt the pace of the lesson to suit the student, spending additional time on challenging concepts where necessary while ensuring that lessons remain productive and engaging. I am also happy to revisit previous topics, as building strong foundations is essential for long-term progress in Mathematics.

For students preparing for examinations, I can incorporate exam-style questions and past-paper practice into lessons. Alongside improving technique and accuracy, I can help students develop effective problem-solving strategies and learn how to approach more challenging questions without becoming overwhelmed.

My overall aim is to create a relaxed and supportive learning environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. By combining a strong understanding of the Mathematics curriculum with an emphasis on genuine understanding, I hope to help every student improve both their results and their confidence in the subject.
