I have taught Maths from ages 11 to 19 for over 20 years, teaching Pearson Edexcel GCSE, IGCSE, A-level Maths and Further Maths, for the last decade at Concord College, and previously at several local secondary schools. I have also held the positions of Lead Teacher, Head of Department and Assistant Head of Department over the last 18 years. With previous real-life experience working as an Electrical Engineer, I understand how to make topics relevant, and see this as an important part of learning. Students often comment on my clear explanations, and say that I make it easier for them to understand even the most difficult concepts and techniques. They also comment on my kindness, approachability and patience as a teacher. I can help by supporting their learning with follow-up explanations, extra practice, preparation for exams, and other ways that lead towards a student achieving their full potential. Lessons at your own pace, the focus will be on understanding. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask as many questions as you need, complete examples together with your growing independence, completing sets of increasingly challenging questions, and working towards exam standard questions as your confidence builds. As exams approach, our focus will turn to consolidation, recall, past question completion and exam technique, identifying and addressing any knowledge or skills gaps.
