I have years of teaching experience at all levels. Depending on numbers, the teaching method will be more or less generalised. The lesser the number of students, the more tailored the experience will be for the individual student. The aim however remains the same and is expected to be the outcome at the end of the course: To build confidence, fluency and an effective communication in the language with others in public and private everyday situations the student is going to find themselves in, in which English or any other language is necessary. These would include dealing with bureaucracy, airports, doctors, hospitals, train stations, buying things, meeting friends, being invited as a guest somewhere and so on, to name a few. The emphasis is on effective trouble-free self expression, with catchy colourful words and expressions to make a good impression. People warm to those who speak their language well, and are attuned to their cultural characteristics. Speaking well and effectively makes life very much easier and makes you friends and acquaintances that much quicker. The entire focus of the lessons as aimed at making these objectives not a dream but an actual reality, inspiring renewed confidence in the student to go on learning more and striving to be a much better communicator after the course comes to an end. We all should part friends, going on to better things full of hope and a renewed desire to succeed more than ever before at or in speaking English, Spanish or French.
