Diogo Candeias

Hello, my name is Diogo and I am working on a PhD in Biomedical Science/Biology at the University of York after having completed my degree in Biomedical Science and MSc in Molecular Medicine. I specialize in Neuroscience and Immunology.

My experience in biomedical research gives me insight into how the theoretical concepts learned in science class relate to real work in the lab. Studying the human body at all levels (molecular to organ systems) helps me find the links between more abstract concepts in biology and chemistry and real-world conditions and problems in human health.

I have been tutoring students ever since I started University (Biology, Maths, and Chemistry), both as a volunteer and as a private tutor.

Recently, I have earned my qualification as Graduate Teaching Assistant and have been teaching/demonstrating in undergraduate Biology Modules.

I strive to keep my students engaged through those more technical subjects by showing the links I have found throughout my academic studies. I hope I can make the sometimes stuffy science sound a bit more approachable and simple by showing you how it manifests itself in real-life problems.
