Dimitri Bonneville

I have graduated from the International Baccalaureate with 7/7 in IB Higher Level Mathematics, became the Class of 2025 Salutatorian (2nd in the year group), competed in Italian national Olympiads placing 3rd out of 18 teams, and most notably, helped one of my students increase their grade from a 3/7 to a 5/7 in maths in just a few months.

My tutoring style is oriented around problem-solving through discussions. I would never want my lessons to feel like a lecture but rather as a welcoming and comfortable conversation, a dynamic I believe is necessary for students to voice their confusions about the subject. One of my favourite educators in the field, Grant Sanderson, stands by the philosophy that the student should feel like they have arrived at the solution themselves, an idea I wish to incorporate into my lessons as well.
In my experience, different students often need different teaching styles, challenges, and problem sets to reach their fullest potential, which is why I believe having background on the student’s understanding and passion for maths is vital for picking the right approach for them. I have seen this firsthand, as one of my students was ready for Olympiad-level mathematics for their age group, while for another it was to regain their focus in the subject despite being challenged with a learning difference.
