Hi, I am a BSc Biotechnology student at the University of Manchester, and am keen to help students that are struggling with biology. My aim is to help students understand and love the subject, in order to thrive in it! I can provide specific guidance on GCSE and A-level biology, which I achieved grades 9 and A*s in respectively. I can help students with specific topic areas by running through detailed interactive explanations of such, but I can also give a lot of useful tips and strategies with answering exam style questions and coping with exam time pressure.

My lessons will be in an online format, and I would plan and structure in advance based off of students' focus areas. Alongside this, I will make sure to provide students with some guided work that they can do based on the content covered in my lessons to maximize the help I can give.

I intend for my teaching to be very conversational, and will ask the student many questions to keep them engaged and interested in the content. I believe this teaching method also helps students actually understand the content, which is the missing component for many students that have just memorized the content and makes all the difference in the final exam. In each 1h slot lesson, I aim to spend the first 30 minutes introducing the topic area and understanding the knowledge gaps the student has. I will do this by using combinations of showing diagrams of processes or breaking more complex material into smaller chunks which can each be addressed and digested more easily by the student. In the next 20 minutes I will introduce exam questions from that topic area and work together with them, addressing the mark scheme consistently so they can identify patterns in what is expected of them from their exam boards. Finally, in the last 10 minutes I would like to recap past lessons to allow for a quick refresher and solidify their understanding in it, and introduce what we will be doing next.

I am keen to take on students and can accommodate lessons into my flexible schedule within reason. I look forward to helping out anyone interested!
