I am an accomplished teacher of English language, Literature in English and Leblango language - an indigenous language of Uganda. I am also an academic who has published a research article on Educational Linguistics in an edited book volume titled 'Educational Agency and Activism in Linguistic Landscape Studies' edited by Profs. Durk Gorter/Edina Krompak, and published by Peter Lang Oxford. As an academic, I teach Linguistics and Literature to university students, engaging them in project works and research.
Also, I am a high school teacher with 22 years of teaching experience and 19 years of experience in examining and assessing the English language at the high school grade level. As a high school teacher, I teach learners to become proficient in the English language and Leblango language respectively. I used formative assessment to determine learners learning needs, after which, I prepare lessons that help them meet their learning objectives or outcomes. I engage them in project works, research and presentations so that students can learn experientially and collaboratively, thus allowing them to take control over their learning and build team spirits. That also allows them to gain the relevant 21st century skills that they need. As a facilitator of the learning processes, I encourage students to explore what they know through guided discovery and class discussions as these allow them to bring into the class their prior knowledge and experiences. At the end of the learning cycle, I conduct a summative assessment to gauge how well the students have mastered what they have learnt.
