Deeksha Lakhani

Hi,

My name is Deeksha Lakhani, and I recently graduated from the University of Belize as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Throughout my education and previous work experiences, I have gained practical knowledge in various laboratory departments, including Immunology, Serology, Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Parasitology. Among these departments, Microbiology holds a special place for me. I find great joy in assisting students in learning about different types of bacteria, their classification based on characteristics, and the diseases they cause. During my time at the University of Belize, I dedicated a significant portion of my schedule to tutoring both fellow classmates and other students in Biology and Microbiology. I developed comprehensive study guides that incorporated diagrams illustrating body systems, bacterial shapes, and practical examples to bridge the gap between theory and laboratory work.

To assess their understanding and identify areas of weakness, I designed lesson plans and utilized online platforms like Quizizz to create interactive quizzes. This helped them in interacting and learning the topic in a much easier way whether it was the University or online.

If I am chosen for this job, one of my main formats would be creating tables highlighting differences between the functions, roles, body systems and other topics in order to make learning easier. I would also ask questions randomly by picking any student to see if they could explain the topic to each other. Furthermore, I would create practice quizzes on quizizz for any students to answer questions in order to gain extra points towards their test which would make online learning interactive and interesting. Lastly, I would give case studies if necessary in order to allow questions and discussion among students. I believe that these skills collectively contribute to creating a conducive and effective learning environment, enabling tutors to support students in achieving their academic goals and fostering their overall growth and development.
