My lessons are first and foremost orientated towards the requirements of the GCSE, A Level or undergraduate course undertaken by the student. I especially focus on answering the questions correctly to maximise grade potential.
I use primary source material where possible and I always enhance understanding of the history at hand.
My teaching style is interactive and I always set exercises that practice and reinforce the skills needed to succeed in exams. My expectation is always course orientated responses.
At A level and undergraduate standard I provide a model for essay planning. My expectation is that students will follow and practice this approach because experience has taught me that well structured responses are as important as excellent knowledge.
At undergraduate level I specialise in Irish history, most especially the peace process. Having been a participant I have access to a unique collection of primary and secondary source materials and I use them in my lessons. This along enables a unique insight over and above the normal understanding of what went on and why it worked.
Above all my lessons are fun, challenging and guaranteed to improve knowledge and understanding.
