I am a teacher with over 14 years teaching experience. I have worked with SEN pupils across all age ranges and abilities. I am an expert at adapting lessons to suit the individual needs of pupils and ensure that they remain engaged and focused throughout through my enthusiasm and expert subject knowledge.

I have an excellent history at ensuring pupils make fantastic progress in their maths and English learning. I taught during the pandemic and developed my skills to teach online and I ensured pupils continued to make progress during that difficult time. I am an excellent teacher who can help any pupil, regardless of need or ability, to make progress and add to their learning in maths and their early reading.

My lessons are all online via Teams and are all recorded for safeguarding purposes. For maths lessons we will start with a quick quiz to recap knowledge. This is an excellent way to encourage pupils to use their long term memory and to transfer knowledge from their working memories to their long term memories. Next we will work on the agreed area of study using PowerPoint presentation, which are fun and engaging as well as using interactive whiteboard programs to discuss points as well as other online resources such as interactive whiteboards for the use of counting and sums. I am a big believer in the use of visual resources and I will teach your child to effectively use them in my lessons and in their lessons at school so that there is a transfer of skills, which will help them to consolidate their learning and therefore they will grow in confidence and progress better in their learning. We will also play games online to ensure that their learning is fun and engaging and again this will help them to consolidate their learning as we all learn better when learning is fun. Pupils will also have the opportunity to do work either online or printed at home where they can learn to answer questions effectively. We will go through recognising key words in questions, understanding different mathematical techniques and develop your child's confidence so that they can work more efficiently and effectively and therefore become better learners. I positively encourage pupils to make mistakes. This is where we can identify gaps in learning and therefore show where they need to improve. This will help them to develop their resilience and and thus enjoy their learning more.

For phonics and early reading learning, I use the letters and sounds program developed by the renowned Ruth Miskin. Through her program I have developed a very effective method of teaching pupils phonics and developing their early reading skills. My lessons are fun and engaging and I foster a love of reading. Any child has the potential to become an excellent reader and love reading and together we take away the mystery of letters and sounds and together we have fun decoding words and and recognising the sounds and patterns within words. This not only helps pupils develop their early reading skills but also has the added effect of developing their spelling and writing as well.
