Home educating a primary-age child and looking for extra help with reading, writing or maths? I offer weekday morning tuition that starts with what your child already understands and focuses on the areas where they need support.
I’m Dave Church, a qualified primary teacher and former deputy headteacher with over 13 years’ experience in education. I hold a master’s degree in Science Education from King’s College London and the National Professional Qualification for Headship. I’m also the founder of Braythorpe.
My lessons combine clear explanations, practical activities and guided practice. We might use objects and pictures to explore a maths concept, practise phonics through games, discuss a book or work together on a piece of writing. I adjust the activities and pace as I get to know your child.
In our first session, I’ll explore their starting points through conversation and activities. Together, we’ll agree manageable learning priorities. Your child will have time to ask questions, make mistakes and revisit anything that hasn’t clicked.
I support phonics, reading fluency and comprehension, writing, spelling, handwriting and primary maths. I can also help with primary science and Year 6 SATs preparation where relevant.
Sessions can complement the learning you already do at home. You’ll receive brief feedback after each lesson so you know what we covered and what could help next.
I offer face-to-face tuition in Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire, or online, with weekday morning availability. Local arrangements are agreed privately.
Fees are £50 per hour face-to-face or £45 online. Six one-hour lessons cost £285 face-to-face or £255 online, including resources, session feedback and an end-of-block learning summary.
You can book one paid lesson first. If you continue with a six-session block, that lesson and its payment count towards the block.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and am registered with the DBS Update Service.
Send me your child’s age, what you’d like help with and your preferred mornings. We can arrange a free 15-minute parent chat before booking.
