My lesson is are very interactive and participatory. I use technology to help the students become empowered. Videos and music are a big part of all my presentations and discussions. I've learned students care about their learning when they see that they're cared for by their teacher in their intellectual pursuits. When asked specific questions the answer is provided and expounded upon with history, significance and impact. I bring in current research into as many discussions as possible and I find this empowers and motivates the students. If I can, I'll show concepts through experiments that I and the students can do. This greatly helps with understanding. I also bring up new technologies and ideas such as nanotechnology, of which I have many, many years of experience in. Bringing ideas down to the "small", explains many things that can't be explained with basic chemistry or physics. All in all, students want to know their topics in a way that us understandable and makes sense. This is what is needed in today's world of multiple pieces of data and information is impacting all of our students. I'd like my students to not only learn their subject topics, but thoroughly understand that s scientific facts need to be always tested and questioned. After all, evolution continues and continues and, although time seems not to be advancing, it, in fact is, along with the changes we all experience. So, if you want to learn biology, please become an expert by signing up with me for your learning. Thank you.

I highly recommend Mr. David Ashkenaz for a tutoring position within your company. I was David's supervisor at Innovations High School in Chicago for 18 years. I have observed him teaching numerous lessons throughout the years. David is very passionate about science, and has a knack for fostering a love of science in his students. His lessons are innovative, engaging, and challenging. He is masterful at integrating the arts into his science lessons. He has also taught college content at the high school level through Innovations High School's dual credit program (partnership with Harold Washington College). Our dual credit students demonstrated a high level of success in his classes. His former students have commented that his classes greatly prepared them for their college science classes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions regarding Mr. Ashkenaz. I am confident he will be an asset to your tutoring program. Sincerely, Melissa Cotirla Former Principal at IHS
