I am an experienced academic tutor and current PhD student at the University of St Andrews, with several years of experience teaching students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and academic goals. I have taught mathematics through calculus, English and literature, history, Spanish, entrance-exam preparation, graduate and postgraduate admissions tests, as well as study and executive-functioning skills. I have also taught and tutored Biblical Greek at university level.

My lessons are highly personalised. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, areas for improvement, learning style, and goals, then build sessions around clear explanations, guided practice, thoughtful questioning, and regular review. I try to make lessons rigorous without making them intimidating, and I adapt both the pace and approach depending on how a student responds.

I place particular emphasis on helping students understand why an answer or method works rather than simply memorising procedures. For exam preparation, I combine subject knowledge with strategy, timing, pattern recognition, and careful analysis of mistakes. For academic subjects, I focus on building strong foundations while also developing independent reasoning and confidence.

My aim is to create an encouraging, intellectually serious environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and tackling difficult material. Whether a student is preparing for an important examination, strengthening a particular subject, or simply trying to become a more confident and independent learner, I tailor each lesson to help them make meaningful, lasting progress.
