Daniel Marland

I started my career as a lawyer and had 9 years experience as a commercial litigator. I moved to Brazil in 2014 and started teaching at highly reputable language courses for a number of years until I began to focus on assisting foreign lawyers with technical language, presentations, academic training and formal documents. I now mainly provide technical support and consultancy services for lawyers but also own a small company that provides group classes to professionals in the energy sector.

I use the communicative approach and ensure that the student is the focus of the class, experiencing as much talk time as possible. For me, getting to know a student is vital and understanding their interests and goals are key to formulating an effective lesson. Using material or subject matter that is relevant and interesting creates a more effective and natural learning experience. I try and tailor my classes to suit each individual given that we all learn in different ways and find different approaches more productive.
