I don't believe in reading tables, memorising words from a list, or only working with one particular text book. Language learning is organic and requires many different tools and many different strategies to achieve success. I've been teaching since 2008 and I started teaching Swedish online in 2016. I'm an accredited Swedex instructor and have experience in preparing students for the Swedish Tisus test.
In my lessons I use a combination of methods and, yes, I do give out homework when appropriate as well. My approach is always to see where you are in your learning and if you have any "knowledge bubbles" - gaps that need to be addressed. Our lessons would balance listening and reading comprehension through a variety of tools.
These are some of the tools I use in my lessons:
* Powerpoint presentations
* Textbooks: Rivstart, Form i Fokus, Text i Fokus, Avancera Ord
* Photographs
* News articles
* Own worksheets
Having confidence is worth everything when learning a new language, so I make sure to always infuse that in every activity we do. Mistakes will happen but they are essential o make meaningful progress. You don't need to worry about that, regardless if you have something like dyslexia or similar, because I am patient and I fully understand that we learn differently and at different speed. You will feel frustrated with yourself but don't let that stop you. It's perfectly normal.
