Daniel Gascoyne

I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Manchester and offer tuition in GCSE and A-level Maths.

My lessons are centred around working through questions on different topics. I can provide questions to practise, then we can work through them together, identify areas that need more attention and discuss how to approach similar questions. I focus on explaining the reasoning behind each method, rather than simply giving students the answer or asking them to memorise a procedure.

I can adapt lessons to the student's current level and what they are finding difficult. This might involve working through a particular GCSE or A-level topic, practising exam-style questions, revisiting areas where the student lacks confidence, or working through past-paper questions.

I have experience supporting young people through volunteering and work experience in educational settings, including helping pupils with activities and providing one-to-one support. I have also worked with children in group settings, helping them participate in activities and develop their confidence.

I aim to make lessons patient, relaxed and supportive, while still keeping them focused and productive. My goal is to help students understand the mathematics for themselves and become more confident when tackling unfamiliar questions.

I understand that students learn at different speeds and may find different aspects of mathematics challenging. I am happy to take time to explain a topic in a different way when needed, and to encourage students to ask questions whenever they are unsure. I want students to leave each lesson with a clearer understanding of the topic and a better idea of how to approach similar questions independently.
