I approach each topic through use of booklets for the students to complete work and use a set of PowerPoint slides whereby the tasks stated on a particular slide will correspond with the page numbers in the work booklets. In the case of programming tasks, I use work sheets that will show what a sequence of code looks like so that the students will know or have a rough idea as to how to set out their code - also called PRIMM pedagogy. I also role model and walkthrough how to answer different past paper questions.

Beyond these core structures, my sessions are built around active engagement and incremental progress. The booklets are not just static worksheets; they are carefully scaffolded to guide students from foundational recall to higher-order application, with each section clearly signposted by the slides. This dual format ensures that learners always know exactly where they are in the lesson and what is expected of them, reducing cognitive overload and building confidence. For programming, the PRIMM approach (Predict, Run, Investigate, Modify, Make) is embedded into every coding worksheet—students first predict output, then run and investigate existing code, before modifying it and finally creating their own from scratch. This sequence demystifies syntax and logic, turning abstract concepts into tangible, repeatable patterns.

When tackling past paper questions, I go beyond simply giving answers. I narrate my thought process in real time—highlighting command words, breaking down mark schemes, and showing how to structure concise, high-scoring responses. I then reverse roles, asking students to teach the question back to me, which cements their understanding and exposes any lingering gaps. Every session ends with a brief self-reflection prompt, encouraging students to identify what clicked and what needs more attention. My ultimate aim is not just exam readiness, but genuine computational thinking—so that each student leaves not only with completed booklets and marked codes, but with a resilient, problem-solving mindset that serves them far beyond the classroom.
