My students’ needs come first, with a free consultation / needs analysis.

I like to use authentic, up-to-date materials and sources such as The Economist, The Guardian and New Scientist. I make a lot of my own content to aid my students, using AI and 25 years teaching experience. My lessons are as communicative and reflective as possible, using immediate and delayed error correction to improve grammar and pronunciation. Emergent language is given plenty of scope, allowing students to find their own authentic voice.

I am highly organised and keep records of my learners’ progress, recycling language and skills to gently push them out of their comfort zone and achieve their goals. I provide pre and post course tasks so they get the most out of their learning, working on fossilized errors in a variety of ways so lessons remain upbeat, personalised and motivating.

I have had 10 years experience training teachers in the latest techniques and pedagogy, so my learners know they are in safe hands. I have taught IELTS, Cambridge exams and every level of General English in the UK and abroad, and like to put myself in my learners’ shoes; I am currently learning Chinese to better understand how language retention works.

I am passionate about all areas of ELT, having written for Modern English Teacher Magazine, and spoken at the IATEFL Conference on using meditation techniques in the classroom. I am currently doing research into dyslexia among ELT students and also working with other researchers abroad looking at techniques to improve hesitation time in speaking fluency.
