About me

As an experienced teacher spanning across various age groups, from year 1 to year 10, as well as adults, my teaching methods are dynamic and tailored to meet the diverse needs of my learners. Utilising a combination of White Rose Maths and Maths No Problem frameworks, I adopt a comprehensive approach to teaching mathematics, guiding learners from concrete understanding to pictorial representations and ultimately to abstract concepts.

In mathematics, the journey begins with concrete manipulatives, allowing learners to physically interact with mathematical concepts. This hands-on experience fosters a deeper understanding of mathematical principles, laying a solid foundation for future learning. Transitioning to pictorial representations, such as diagrams and drawings, helps learners visualise abstract concepts, making connections between real-world scenarios and mathematical symbols. Finally, as learners progress, they engage in abstract thinking, applying mathematical concepts independently and confidently.

In addition to mathematics, I am equally passionate about teaching English language and literature. My approach encompasses a wide range of texts, catering to the diverse interests and abilities of my students. Through interactive activities and discussions, we delve into various literary works, exploring themes, characters, and literary devices.

Within English sessions, I integrate reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and punctuation seamlessly, providing a holistic approach to language learning. By incorporating diverse texts, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and plays, I create an engaging learning environment where students develop critical thinking skills and a love for literature.

Throughout our sessions, I prioritise differentiation, recognising that each learner has unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles. By incorporating a variety of teaching strategies, such as visual aids, hands-on activities, group discussions, and individualised tasks, I ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Furthermore, I foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, where students feel valued and empowered to express their ideas and opinions. By promoting a growth mindset and encouraging perseverance, I instill confidence in my learners, equipping them with the skills and resilience needed to overcome academic challenges.
