I have a great passion for Chemistry and try to format lessons in a way that intuitively builds up a concept so students aren't just trying to remember rules and information but actually understanding what they are being taught. Personally I found this essential for my A-Level exams in which I achieved an A* (93%).
A lesson will usually start off covering a new topic and if relevant include a video of a demonstration. For example if a lesson was focused on organic chemistry and fractional distillation I would show a student a video of an actual fractional distillation column for a better understanding of the process.
Another example would be looking at strong vs weak acids and using a visual demonstration of complete vs partial dissociation in water.
For discussing equilibrium position there are many ways to illustrate the continuation of reaction when product & reactant concentrations are constant.
Another essential element of teaching to allow students to score maximum marks is learning the content in the wording the examiners would like to hear.
I am thankful that both my GCSE & A level chemistry teachers were fantastic and never shy away from answering questions and I hope to carry forward this teaching style m.
