Each tutoring session begins with a short review of prior learning, allowing pupils to retrieve and consolidate key knowledge from previous lessons. This not only reinforces long-term retention but also boosts confidence by highlighting progress already made. I then introduce new content in carefully structured, sequential steps, ensuring that concepts are broken down into manageable parts. I make use of visual aids, manipulatives, games, and interactive questioning to maintain engagement and make abstract ideas more concrete. Throughout, I employ evidence-based strategies such as retrieval practice, scaffolding, and explicit modelling, with opportunities for guided practice before pupils work independently.

In English, I focus on developing reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary through rich, varied texts, while supporting writing through modelled, shared, and independent approaches. Grammar and spelling are taught contextually to strengthen overall accuracy and expression. In Maths, I emphasise fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving, providing opportunities for pupils to articulate their thinking and apply concepts in different contexts. I differentiate carefully, using formative assessment to identify misconceptions and tailor my teaching to individual needs. I also teach foundation subjects such as science, history, geography, computing, and art through enquiry-based, cross-curricular projects that encourage curiosity and creativity. These lessons are designed to help pupils make meaningful connections between subjects and develop transferable skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and resilience. For younger learners, I deliver targeted phonics support using a systematic synthetic phonics approach to strengthen decoding and early reading fluency.

My approach is calm, nurturing, and highly individualised. I believe children learn best when they feel secure, supported, and appropriately challenged. My overarching goal is to help every pupil grow in confidence, independence, and enjoyment of learning, equipping them with the skills and self-belief to achieve lasting success.
